तन्मे मनः शिवसंकल्पमस्तु – शिव संकल्प सूक्त

Markandey Maharishi:-

“You slept very late last night. Your mind was completely immersed in making Bk 3 on Adi Shankaracharya. You were riveted to Kashi and its submerged history. You thought intensely and dwelled deeply to search for answers as so many scriptures and manuscripts were purposely destroyed by the invaders. The streaming questions in your mind were – How I came to live in Kashi more than 52 lakh years ago? How could I live in those harshest geographical conditions? Why did Parmatma send me so early to Kashi to initiate the process of making a holy and prestigious city in the future? Which other books did I write aside from Shiva Purana, Markandey Purana, Durga Saptashati? Did I write some books about which we know nothing about? And lastly, how could I write the maximum number of scriptures ever by any Sage, apart from the maximum number of Upanishads and Vedas written by me particularly in Kashi?

What was the depth of my silence and peace? Did making scriptures make me quieter and more peaceful like meditation? To what extent can one live a life by God’s wish?”

Me: “My sadhana always amplifies and takes a pivotal and consequential turn when you come to me. For the past three days, I have been listening to the holy chants of mantras, suktas and stotrams from Kashi in my ears. I even enter a phase when I am in Kashi at Ganga ghat in my subtle body. My manas is so filled with the vibrations, sounds of collective chanting of learned men of the past. I have taken an oath just now that I will not listen to any music to relieve myself of the mental fatigue of making books. I will fill it up with Mahamrityunjaya Mantra or Om chanting and repetitions of a few words of them. I want to fill every possible space in the last layer of my mind with the divine sound of Om and its echoing. I want to remain in the deepest silence of the mind to remain in contact with Parmatma. Om is the divine sound of Parmatma. I wish to hold Om forever inside my manas मनस.

It is my earnest and humble request that you make me write a new post which will be your Discourse to me on ‘May my mind dwell on that which is auspicious’. I wonder if you are the author of Shiva Sankalpa Suktam शिव संकल्प सूक्तं? You have made me write 2 classic posts on this topic – ‘We must live our life by God’s Will, God intervenes with His Will to bestow blessings on us’. It has taken me more than 2 years to grasp all the grave wisdom that you have so graciously bestowed upon me in 2022.

I make my resolve today. ‘May my mind always dwell on that which is auspicious’. तन्मे मनः शिवसंकल्पमस्तु।”

Markandey Maharishi: “I will make you write only 3 stanzas of 7 lines each on what you have so earnestly appealed to me. This is my blessing to you for putting your whole self in knowing about the Rishis of Kashi. Knowing their tapasya, you have so many times prostrated mentally as you were revising your manuscript during the last 2 days.”

The Deepest Mind – an Ocean of densest divine rays, energy and life force

“The deepest segment of the unconscious mind, the lowermost part of the mind is extremely potent and dynamic; it is the bedrock of an Ocean.

It is filled with immense light rays of Parmeshwar, and the divine rays are the densest in this section of the mind; it is built for one purpose only.

The light rays are stored in advance for all the Souls by Parmatma as a resource of excess life force, energy, inspiration; prodigious actions are the aim.

If with the penance, God’s wish and permission, some Soul resurrects oneself to maximum spiritual heights, Parmatma chooses that Soul as His medium.

Extraordinary and awe-inspiring works are given to such Souls by Parmatma with His rays of Light embedded previously; the Light rays have messages.

The body and mind become a Light House by which uninterrupted life force is consumed by the recipient and never-ending work is done by him or her.

All my literary works in Kashi, Kashmir, Haridwar, Rishikesh or my tapasya in freezing Kedarnath were produced with a divine state of extreme illumination.

Om reverberates deepest in the lowermost section of the mind

Om sound has maximum rays of divine light infused in it since it was created as the first sound in this Universe before the Earth was to be built slowly.

When a Soul is entering the physical body for the first time, Om vibrates inside the Soul to prepare it with its consent to transform the divine rays into physical matter.

Our consent or sankalpa, when it acts upon the sacred sound Om, the panch mahabhoot become active and aligned to get ready for conception.

As soon as the fusion takes place, Om is played since the birth of a new Soul for the first time is taking place with God’s consent; Om is heard only by Him.

That’s how Parmatma knows that in His Universe, He has created one more being just like Him and His sacredness; Om is the tinkle when we were conceived and first sound we received.

Immediately, the formation of manas begins to take place, quantum Light is inserted at the base of this subtlest creation; in future, manas shapes itself in the form of a vessel.

Om, if chanted many times in a day, takes us back to the time when we were first ever born as Parmatma’s finest Creation; Om is eternity, Om is Light of God embedded inside three sounds!

Dwell on Om, Om is always auspicious, Om is Energy of God

Om was created by Parmatma for one main reason – to give one anchor of sorts to enable the Souls to reconnect with Him whenever they wish to come Home.

In spite of making this sound mainly for returning Home, Parmatma has infused so many more sacred gifts in it so that we may regenerate our body, mind and Soul.

The last and deepest layer inside our manas is of Om; if all the memories and thoughts, no matter how many they are, are removed, in the end it is only Om sound in us.

With the greatest Kripa and consent of Parmatma, with our many, many efforts, if we can return Home by going very deep inside our mind, we should always be anchored to Om.

Dwelling on Om stops the futile sounds, thoughts and energies to come in, let them not make a home inside your mind; since thoughts multiply and vibrate, have only peace within.

Om is the energy which will aid us to continuously do sacred acts in our whole life and in all lives, and every act will be sacred; and by doing only pious acts, our suffering ends.

So, dwell on Om, Om is always auspicious, Om is Energy of God for us to avail for sacred and daily acts; seal this moment of your life, it is the most sacred and pious, Om!”

Conclusion –

In this series of 4 posts, in brief is described how the Soul seeks permission from Parmatma to take on a new life, how our manas begins to form the first time, it also has an everlasting memory. Our Soul has memory, our Soul has infinite, everlasting memory and the role of memory in returning back Home after wandering in many life incarnations etc…

1. Our Soul has memory – Markandey Maharishi (3 of 4) is a short narration of how we get a new life, a birth the first time in the first place. Erosion of that memory due to delusion and wandering in Maya and only experiencing the world.

Also included is – How this memory is reignited by rays of Light of God by meditation and we begin to remember Parmatma once again. This oldest memory gets rekindled as we proceed to know our selves after we have a desire to go back to our very fond memories of God union as joy, love and peace. We never forget the most pivotal joys, sufferings and life lessons learnt along our whole journey in our ever lasting Soul memory or else we will repeat the same blunders of falling into the trap of delusion and confusion.

2. May my mind always dwell on that which is auspicious – Markandey Maharishi (4 of 4) is about how we begin our first every life as a human being. How does the process of our first ever birth starts is defined briefly in the current post. What is buried very deep inside our deepest mind which can never be deleted or eroded – It is Om, the divine sound.

The role of Om, panch mahabhoot, our consent, Parmatma’s consent are responsible for the formation of our manas, and for our first birth ever.

3. Documented another very sublime process of a Soul taking a birth the very first time – quoting from this series – Your mind’s deepest recess has only Peace, Love and the Divine sound Om (2 of 4)

It has the most subtle information.

Whatever we wish, do a sankalpa, choose, initiate our free will in just 2½ seconds just before the conception takes place and we are about to be born the first, very first time ever is most crucial and decisive in our about to start Soul Journey!

“The first desire of separation from Parmatma gives the Soul the freedom of instant gratification, wandering and losing sight of any great purpose of getting a human birth. The first desire made before, at or just after conception determines the character and future of any Soul’s migration to unknown territories.”

“2¼ seconds of experiencing Cosmic Consciousness before you got the first life incarnation had such a powerful influence over you that you never wanted that experience to ever let go. Hence, you prayed to Parmatma to be never separated from Him.

The memory in those 2¼ seconds was held very tightly by your Ichcha Shakti, the power of will or else the just-to-be-born Soul drops the memory due to its own diffusion. Here Parmatma gives us the free will; we may choose to instantly grab Him or be on our own.

You trusted Cosmic Consciousness because the awareness in you was held very tightly. You were aware that this very Divine moment, just a few moments were extremely precious coming from a very Divine source and you placed all your trust and faith on it.

By doing so, the opposite force called delusion, separating force from Parmatma, had no room to jump in to confuse or blur your Wisdom in 2¼ seconds. You became victorious over Maya, the deluding power.”

Part C

Just before your current birth in the womb and ten plus twenty-two seconds before birth at your arrival – you never lost touch with your guiding Light in the Soul.

“The time, particularly the last 22½ seconds before conception takes place, it is critical. The Soul is very excited to take on a new physical body. In the excitement, it forgets and disconnects the unity with Atma. Entering in this state is dangerous.

The focus is lost, the attention quelled, the Soul will wander at the start and will never remember what the purpose to incarnate was if at all, knowing the real purpose of life was pre-decided by the Soul – otherwise downfall is ensured.

Before you were conceived this time in the last 36¾ seconds you rehearsed and recalled every moment how beautifully and gracefully you decisively watched, measured your breath flow, brought the focus in between the eyebrows at the time of death.

You experienced every moment bit by bit as if you were dying with so much awareness and detachment and were floating in peace, infinity and objectivity, you latched on to your Chetna, Soul very tightly as if you were jumping in an Ocean.

You knew the purpose of this life, why you asked Parmatma to give you this particular life, how you will tackle all the hurdles and what you would do in case you met and lived with very impure Souls – this is total preparedness of a very enlightened Soul!”
