This post’s title is not very apt since you will not find any description about Guru Gorakh Nath. On the contrary, it explains terms which were either mentioned in the glossary in the last post or explains many important terms which are used in the last part especially post no. III.
Since Guru Gorakh Nath’s written text is not available, I am taking the help of Swami Shivanandaji’s book- Mind its mysteries and control. Through these quotes, you will be able to make further advancement in your cleansing process by removing very old, buried habits and irrevocable old patterns.
Firstly thank you, Ma for a post of very different nature. It was a great study – to know in detail about the vicious cycle of Samskaras and Vrittis. Swami Shivanandji’s crisp writing helped in elucidating such complex and technical workings of our mind. I have read the entire post twice and still need to go back to it for more assimilation.
Ma, I do have some points which aren’t clear to me. Please kindly throw some light on these.
1. “Samyama over these Samskaras brings out the direct knowledge of the residual potencies” I read the meaning of Samyama – it means dharana, dhyana and Samadhi. Ma, what does Swamiji exactly mean here? How can we do Samyama on our Samskaras? How do we even know what kind of Samskaras we are carrying in our Antakharana?
2. “If you find it difficult to do your actions in a Nishkama Spirit, have one desire for liberation in doing all things” I didn’t not get the entire meaning of this line, Ma.
3. “There are probably many things which the man of the world does constantly and may do without much harm resulting in any way; if these things were done by those sincere aspirants who are treading the path of Realization, they would be decidedly harmful.” Can you explain the distinction, Ma?
The 3 blog posts of Guru Gorakhnathji are wonderful, Ma. the more I read, the more nectar oozes out! And thank you again for posting the bhajan too, I have become inclined towards hindustani classical after listening to umpteen times the Bhajan – Bhola man jane amar meri kaya…..
Pranam Ma,
This post gives deeper understanding of impact of deep rooted samskara on our life and how to use it to become free from cycle of birth and death by realising who you are.
Swami ji maharaj has given us tool to mitigate the impact–
Who is your real enemy’s?
It is your own evil Samskaras. Substitute Subha Vasanas in place of Asubha ones. Then you can approach God. The mind will be changed. Old Samskaras will be obliterated.
Wrong suggestions of various kinds and crude fantastic superstitions are rooted deeply
in your mind. They are harmful. You will have to knock them down by Vichara, sublime
suggestions, right thinking.
Thank you so much guru Ma.
Jai sat guru Maharaj ki.
Koti koti Pranam.
Gratitude.
Dear Paripurna continue this practice of replacing ashubh sanskaras with shubh sanskaras. Stop giving yourself wrong suggestions, you will succeed. Ma
Pranam Ma, will follow it with all your grace.
Dear Sarika Maa,
Thanks for sharing the pages of the wonderful book written by Swami Sivananda. The points are very meaningful and seem to have a very deep sense of importance in our present life.
I totally believe in the theory of Samskaras and try my best to follow the words mentioned in this articles and many other articles I have read in other blogs and books. But I have noticed that many a times I have failed and got caught in the grip of Maya. In lot of situations I have lost the wisdom and given into temptation – Anger, emotions, illogical behaviour or words. These situations are very repetitive and even though I try to control myself after few minutes into the situation there is an outburst of the negative emotions. This was not the case in 2012. I will write to you separately in person about a particular situation, now though it is a past event I haven’t been able to come out of its effects. So it’s very true that what actions you take today definitely will have implications in later life – good or bad.
My question to you is how to thwart negative or bad situations which prevail and lurk all the time around e.g. I face extremely hostile environment at workplace and also to some extent in my personal life. I visit the Ashram regularly and have realised a lot of things I wan to share with you.
Please guide me Maa.
Regards,
Deepanjan
My dear Deepanjan, a very auspicious and health and joy filled New Year to you. I am glad you are liking the posts as well as the audios and also wish to transform your life into a better one.
Regarding sanskaras, they are difficult to go, more so the negative ones. However, it is not impossible to change them. A few things are to be done and understood first of all-
#It is most difficult to change one’s mana’s (mind’s) character. It is stubborn. Nonetheless Yoga sadhana and not Hatha or applying force is the answer.
#Some of our life’s decisions are wrong because there is delusion of Maya. EVeryone gets deluded sometime and hence takes irrational or wrong decisions. The right decisions and actions are taken when there is enlightened Guru in one’s life since The Guru can see it all, the bhagya or prarabdh, fate of the disciple and also the past lives. Hence the life surrendered to Gurus is easier to navigate.
#But all is not lost. You can begin to change the negative energy currents or hostility around you by changing your attitude and controlling and calming the mind. When there are waves of more calming vibrations emanating out of you, there will be a visible changes in you. Even if you do not speak, the mind shouts. So quiten, tranquilize the mind by knowing that God is looking after you, protecting you and all the people are allowed to do what they are doing. After all, they are responsible for their own acts and they will suffer, not you.
#The energies or auric vibrations coming out of you should make the vital change and you will then follow the path of God’s will. If people still continue to harm you in some way, still do not retaliate, they will slowly fade away or they will change. Or God will intervene. But do not create more new negative thought patterns and actions.
Continue to go to Ashram to meditate, your prayers will be answered. Become calmer, more calmer and translate the responses of your prayers into a divine life.
Also please read my new post on Facebook-My Life is an Open Book issued on 31.12.16.I did not inform you personally about my impending short visit to Delhi on 30th Jan 2017 because it is a week day. I am meeting all new people in a friend’s house. Read the post and revert if need be. WP questions on WP and Fb comments on Fb. We all follow this rule to avoid mixing and losing important text in confusion.
God bless you.
Yours Ma
Dear Maa,
Thanks for your detailed reply, I really appreciate the time you take to read everyone’s questions and then reply with so much concern and care.
There is no problem with the meeting. Whenever you come to the Ashram or to Delhi, you could inform me at your convenience. If time permits both of us, I will surely meet you.
I am not on Facebook so will not be able to read My Life is an Open Book. If you have the transcript you could send that else I will read through someone else’s login. My reason of not being on Facebook was also to keep my mind calm and it has helped me a lot in the last 4 years.
Looking forward to more interaction.
Reverent Regards,
Deepanjan
