Sarika Ma,
You have written a lot on Kashi. But as per historians, Indus Valley Civilization, Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa were the oldest sites of human civilization in Ancient India. Town planning, jewelry and many other features were associated with Indus Valley Civilization. Even today the concept of town planning is absent in Kashi and most of the Indian cities. Toiletry culture was also absent in most parts of India before 5-6 decades. Even today we do not have proper sewage disposal and waste management system in most of the Indian cities and towns. Capital Delhi has got huge fill up area and no systematic efforts are being undertaken to reduce that. Delhi is having one of the worst air pollution levels among the cities of the world. Road accidents are also numerous in Indian cities and towns. I myself have been hit by careless two wheelers many a times. So amidst all these things which we see daily, how one can simply glorify ancient culture? Who built Indus Valley Civilization, particularly cities of Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa? Why town planning, sewage disposal and waste management which was there in Indus Valley Civilization was forgotten by later Indians? Why are we having maximum law breakers and people without civic sense in Modern India? I am asking you these questions because every day I am seeing people throwing out kitchen wastes and numerous other wastes on the sides of public roads.
Regards,
Jerry.
